Well over thirty dare devil armed robbers suspected to be secret cult
members Wednesday midnight held residents of Okeodo along University
of Ilorin road Tanke Ilorin in Ilorin South Local Government Area of
Kwara state, hostage killing a guard and injuring several others.
The
late night guard according to impeccable sources, known as Alhaji
Abubakar Amao posed a very serious challenge to the armed robbers
because of his obvious metaphysical powers as several gunshots fired at
him didn’t have any effect.
The obviously enraged gang quickly
moved towards the night guard said to be in his 60s, held him by the
throat and also violently hit his head on a big stone severally until he
was certified dead and they continued their operation.
The gang
afterwards dispossessed residents in the area of their valuable
possessions running into several millions of naira unhindered in an
operation that lasted for over three hours.
Beside killing the guard man, several others were critically injured and are currently receiving treatment at various hospitals.
Similarly,
the second guard man in the area was also said to have been beaten to a
pulp while those who did not have money or expensive valuables were
seriously injured.
The robbers, it was further gathered attacked a
hostel where students of University of Ilorin who have just resumed for
a new session reside, carting away laptops, blackberry phones, cash and
other expensive valuables.
Another resident who was not having any cash with him was also thrown into soak-away though he was reportedly rescued.
There
was however intense crying and wailing last Thursday when policemen
brought the remains of Alhaji Abubakar Amao to his family at Tanke
Iledu.
The late guard, has since been buried in accordance with Islamic rites.
One
of the residents who witnessed the burial recounted to press
saying, “Blood was still gushing out from his head as his body was
lowered into the grave”. “These guys (armed robbers) seriously injured
this man to death. They murdered him mercilessly and even some of the
policemen who brought him home could not control their emotion because
of the gruesome and excruciating manner they killed the mai guard

the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Femi Fabode
claimed that he was yet to be briefed on the incidence.
